Bathroom makeovers for a world of difference
You spend a lot of time in your bathroom, so it’s important to get the bathroom renovation right. If your bathroom is a little in the dark ages, it might be time to modernise it with a new vanity, cabinet or handbasin. Or maybe you need your bathroom redesigned to accommodate some older or less-mobile members of your household. New bathroom fittings are a functional way to add a designer touch to your bathroom or make it more accessible.
Our team is here to help you keep your bathroom up-to-date with your lifestyle. For all bathroom vanity installations and replacements, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you just want us to upgrade the same size vanity, move it or install a fancy, new two-sink vanity,, our skilled, reliable plumbers can do it.
Replacing the old with the new
Some new fixtures won’t work with your current bathroom layout because they may not work with your existing inlets and outlets.
Some fittings will require replumbing even if they are in the same position. For example, if you are replacing a floor standing vanity with a wall hung vanity unit, we will need to re-position your waste pipes to hide the pipework.
Can you install a bathroom vanity yourself?
No, it’s not a DIY job. Because there are waste pipes connected to bathroom vanities, a licensed plumber must install them. There are no ifs, buts or maybes about it.
Any work that involves sanitary plumbing or potable water is a job for a licensed plumber.
It’s a legal matter
The plumbing trade is licensed and protected under Ministry of Health for public safety reasons. The Ministry of Health rules around installation of bathrooms basins, sinks and vanities exist to prevent untreated sewage leaking into homes or being discharged into local waterways through cross-contamination of stormwater networks.
Only a licensed plumber can install anything connected to the waste system to ensure it gets to where it belongs.
Basically, apart from replacing tap washers there is not a great deal the public can legally do themselves. Sanitary plumbing restrictions are there to keep our communities safe. They minimise the risk of contamination of drinking water and ensure the safe disposal of wastewater.
How much do vanity installations cost?
This will depend on a variety of factors but based on our experience from 100s of plumbing jobs, we’ve created an indicative price list, so you know what to expect when you call one of our plumbers to your place.
- Labour charge – this is a fixed rate, and we have a minimum first-hour charge.
- Parts and materials – you will be charged for what’s required. We are well organised and carry a lot of parts in our vans but may still need to pick up some extra items from a plumbing merchant.
- We usually charge travel costs on a per km basis. This will also include the time it takes to visit a plumbing store to get any parts.
- GST of 15% will be charged on the total.
