Vanity installations or replacements
Looking to refresh your bathroom? For all vanity and bathroom ware installations and replacements, you’ve come to the right place.
Whether you just want the same size vanity upgraded, have it moved or have a fancy, new two-sink vanity, our skilled, reliable plumbers can do it.
We’ve been doing this for a while, so from experience and based on 100s of plumbing jobs, we’ve created an indicative price list, so you know what to expect when you call one of our plumbers to your place.
How much do vanity installations cost?
This will depend on a variety of factors:
- Labour charge – this is a fixed rate and we have a minimum first-hour charge.
- Parts and materials – you will be charged for what’s required. We’re pretty organised and carry a lot of parts in our vans, but we may need to pick up some extra items from a plumbing merchant.
- Travel costs are usually charged on a per km basis. This will also include the time it takes to visit a plumbing store to get any parts.
- GST of 15% will be charged on the total.
Can you install a bathroom vanity yourself?
No, only a licensed plumber can install anything connected to the waste system to ensure it gets to where it belongs.
It’s a legal matter
The plumbing trade is licensed and protected under Ministry of Health guidelines for public safety reasons, so apart from replacing tap washers there is not a great deal the public can legally do themselves, which Greg Wallace, Chief Executive of Master Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers NZ, says many homeowners are unaware of.
Getting things moving
If your bathroom renovation involves changing the layout, the new fixtures and fittings may not work with your existing inlets and outlets. Some fittings will require replumbing even if they are in the same position. If you are replacing a floor standing vanity with a wall hung vanity unit, for example, your waste pipes would need to be re-positioned to hide the pipework.

Sanitary plumbing restrictions keep our communities safe by minimising the risk of contamination of drinking water and ensuring the safe disposal of wastewater. These Ministry of Health rules around installation of bathrooms basins, sinks and vanities exist to prevent untreated sewage leaking into homes or being discharged into local waterways through cross-contamination of stormwater networks.
